The region

 

The Aquitaine region, with its 250 km of coastline, from the beaches of the Médoc in the north to those of the Basque Coast on the Spanish frontier, with the shores of the Landes in between, boasts Europe’s largest sand beach!



A paradise for surfers and sailing boats, the Aquitaine region also conceals a remarkably well preserved nature, a surprising historical heritage, legendary traditional festivals and top-quality wines.



Climate


A mild and sunny climate. The Aquitaine region, bordering on the Atlantic Ocean, bathes in a mild and sunny oceanic climate. Average temperatures are between 15 and 23° from April to June and September to the end of October, reaching 25° during summer (July and August). The average temperature of the sea water is 21° in July and August.

 

250 km of fine sand beaches


From the estuary of the Gironde to the entrance to Spain, 250 km of beaches are awaiting you to surf, relax or enjoy the sun!

Go discover the Aquitaine coastline, with its ever-changing landscapes and atmospheres from north to south, from the Médoc to the Basque Coast, passing through the Arcachon Basin and the Landes.

Travel on foot or bicycle along the Côte d’Argent, its seaside resorts and its ports with their multiple aspects. Port Médoc, Soulac, Lacanau, Arcachon, Cap Ferret, Biscarosse, Mimizan, Hossegor, Bayonne, Biarritz…are awaiting you!

 

Lakes, mountains and forests

 

The Aquitaine, a kingdom for tourists, is famous and appreciated for its nature, well preserved to this day.


France’s third most extensive region offers superb view, among lakes, mountains and nature reserves… the national Park of the Pyrenees, the regional Natural Park of the Landes with its Arcachon Basin, the forests of the green Périgord, the ornithological park in the Arcachon Basin, the nature reserve of the Marais d'Orx in the south of the Landes, the vast lakes of Carcans, Lacanau, Biscarosse…, the caves of the Périgord and the Pyrenees..
