The RER A line (rapid transit metro) crosses Paris from west to east and serves the following stations La Défense (15 min), the Champs Elysées (20 min), Les Halles in the heart of Paris (30 min) and Disneyland Paris in Marne-la-Vallée (50 min). At all stations on this line you can change to other metro lines. With an average of 4 departures per hour at Maisons-Laffitte station, from 5.30 am till midnight, access to all the sites and monuments in Paris is extremely fast and easy. You only need to choose:


The Eiffel tower: the undisputed icon of Paris, one of the most visited monuments in the world. (metro 6, Bir Hakeim)


The cathedral of Notre-Dame on Ile de la Cité, gothic masterpiece built from the 12th to the 14th century (metro 4, Cité)


The Champs Elysées and the Arc de Triomphe: the most beautiful avenue in the world, 2 km long between Concorde and the place de l’Etoile (RER A, Charles de Gaulle – Etoile or metro 1, Concorde)


Sacré-Cœur, Montmartre and Pigalle: in the north of Paris, the famous white basilica, with the artists' and painters' quarter, and the world-renowned cabaret shows like the Moulin Rouge (metro 2, Blanche, Pigalle or Anvers)


The Louvre: the largest museum in the world, in the former palace of the kings of France, with Leonardo da Vinci's Mona Lisa (metro 1, Palais Royal)


The Bridges over the Seine and the Latin Quarter (metro 4, Saint Michel)


The main shopping district: Galeries Lafayette and Printemps (RER A, Auber)


Famous museums like the National Museum of Modern Art at the Pompidou Centre (RER A, Châtelet-les-Halles), the Musée d’Orsay (metro 9, Solférino or RER C, Musée d’Orsay), or the Picasso Museum (metro 1, Saint Paul)


Or for something a bit different, Père Lachaise cemetery with its the collection of famous graves including Piaf, Morrison, Wilde, Molière, Balzac, de la Fontaine, Chopin, Bizet, Delacroix, Sarah Bernhardt, Proust, … (metro 2 or 3, Père Lachaise)


Disneyland Paris:

Also served by Line A on the RER, this famous theme park is located 35 km to the east of Paris. It is made up of 2 parks, Parc Disneyland and Walt Disney Studios. Set aside at least one day to visit each park. Open daily. Reduced price tickets (1 park/1 day) on sale at the campsite.
